EBS 12.2 - Non-RAC ASM installation & split configuration

Installing EBS 12.2 database on an ASM is pretty much the same as installing it into a cooked filesystem.. In this release, finally Rapidwiz has an option to use for installing our database into ASM, so we dont need to install our database into local and convert it to ASM anymore.

So, for an ASM installation , we need a Grid Installation already in place.

We need to use an appropriate version for the Grid Home ..(11.2.0.3 for EBS 12.2 in these days)
Basically, we install GRID home.

We start our asm instance, and create our diskgroup for the use of EBS database.

EBS installer rapidwiz supports specifying only 1 diskgroup at the moment.

We can use the same account for EBS's database Oracle Home as OS account that is used for Grid.

Also, we can use a seperate Os account for our EBS database, as long as that account have the necessary  privileges.

Note that , we still use the root OS account to start the rapidwiz.
The same Rpms apply for an ASM installation (except the rpms needed for ASM itself)

You may see the screenshots taken from db installation below;

Here is the only difference in the Rapid wiz installation path..

We basically choose ASM in Storage Type, and specify database Dir as for example +ERMANDG/ERMANDB

I will not write all the steps for installing EBS database tier into an ASM.
Following document already explains it clearly.

Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Automated Storage Management with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2  in a NON RAC installation (Doc ID 1513976.1)

Also, I suggest you to look for the documents below, actually you will need to read and follows these documents anyways.
  • Checks and Potential Issues Installing EBS R12.2 on RAC Cluster using Rapid Install (Doc ID 1595139.1)
  • Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.2) for Linux x86-64 (Doc ID 1330701.1)
  • Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Real Application Clusters and Automatic storage management with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 (Doc ID 1453213.1)
  • EBS 11i and R12 : Central Inventory & Local Inventory Facts for Install, Clone, Upgrade and Maintaining EBS Instance (Doc ID 1550950.1)
  • Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2: Consolidated List of Patches and Technology Bug Fixes (Doc ID 1594274.1)

Note that, if you are making a split configuration, you will follow the steps below;

For ex: 1 app + 1 db node.

Install your database , specify your application server information when the installer ask you to do so.

Rapidwiz will store your application server information to be used when the application tier installation time comes.

After your database installation, go to your application server machine and run rapidwiz
Load your saved configuration from the database(using a connection string like server:sid:port) when the relevant screen appears.

You may see the screenshot taken while installing the application tier, below;

  1. We are having an incredible amount of trouble installing EBS 12.2 on RAC/ASM. Can you expand on any difficulties you had or tips you can offer that are not in the general documentation? Much of what I am being told from Oracle and other consultants is to install first on non RAC/ASM, even though it is an option in the Rapid Installer, finish all my upgrades, then convert to RAC/ASM.
